Peckham has come top in a list of the ten best places to live in London.
The Sunday Times Best Places to Live Guide 2017 gave the top award to Peckham in the London Borough of Southwark, while Bermondsey also made the list.
A variety of factors were considered in compiling the list, including proximity to good schools, local independent shops, culture, job opportunities, low crime levels, and community spirit.
Peckham, much like Bermondsey, has been transformed in the last ten years or so. Formerly seen as a crime-ridden part of town and long associated with much-loved British sitcom, Only Fools and Horses, regeneration has turned Peckham into south London’s answer to Dalston.
Meanwhile, nearby Bermondsey has become a commercial and artistic centre, and the old warehouse buildings which define much of the area have been revived.
The other areas on the list are Barnes, Bloomsbury, Canonbury, the City, Crystal Palace, Muswell Hill, Teddington, and Walthamstow.
The Sunday Times also published its ‘best places to live in Britain’ list, crowning the city of Bristol the winner.
