We’ve rounded up the finest festive markets in Southwark.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and Southwark is feeling suitably festive. Here’s some our favourite spots in the area.
Until 2 January 2018
German style chalets snuggly line the river once again to bring some festive sparkle to SE1. The annual river market, which overlooks the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, offers an array of handmade craft items and plenty of delicious pop-up Christmas food. Throughout December the market will also host events and workshops from food and drink tastings to arts and crafts and storytelling.
Flea Market Christmas Special
Flat Iron Square
Artists and sellers bring their wares to SE1 for one weekend only over the Christmas period. Expect a mix of vintage clothing, bric-a-brac, ceramics, vinyl, books and jewellery. Of course, you couldn’t visit Flat Iron Square without sampling some treats from the array of food vendors. On top of all of that you can expect a choir, carols and wreath-making workshops.
Southbank Centre Winter Festival and Christmas Market
Until 27 December
Traders from around the world bring their festive gifts and street food to the river. Head to the two new pop-up bars, Bar Under the Bridge and The Circus Bar, where you’ll find warming festive cocktails and grub. Jimmy’s Lodge returns for the second year with Alpine-themed private igloos. Don’t miss Circus 1903, a circus spectacular featuring life-sized elephants created by War Horse puppeteers, acrobats, contortionists and high-wire performers (19 December-5 January).
